Roberta Pauline Bridges Gill

Born May 8, 1934 in Earl, North Carolina Pauline is the 14th child born to Joseph and Senora Bridges

     Being the youngest famly member, she was blessed to be a non-hard working member of her farming family.

     Pauline attended and graduated Washington High School where she was a member of the basketball team. Pursuing her dream of being a hair stylist, she attended Wods Morgan Beauty School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she completed her training in 1954. After graduation, she moved to New York where she spent the next four years working as a health care technician for Rockland State Hospital. In 1957 she returned home to help design the now existing Washington Missionary Baptist Church and to open her own beauty salon in her home.

     Pauline was blessed with four loving children:

  • Zenobia Michelle
  • James Michael
  • Lenora Jolene
  • Patricia Marie

    

     On July 25, 1971, in a ceremony in Gaffney, South Carolina, witnessed by William and Mary Bridges, Pauline married William Ottis Gill of Earl, North Carolina.

     Pauline has been a member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church for over 35 years and continues to be an active member of the Liza Roberts Missionary Circle of which she is a past President. Her favorite scripture is Psalms 23, and her favorite song is "How Great Thou Art."
